13 December 2022: District collector Ashish Singh on Tuesday banned an essay writing competition after Hindutva groups raised objections.
There was an essay writing competition on the life of Prophet Muhammad SAW, but the participation is limited to non-Muslims.
Seven different centers were set up in the city and the participants had to submit the essay within 20 days of their registration.
As soon as the Hindutva organization came to know about the competition, the members of the organization registered a complaint to Superintendent of Police (SP) Satendra Shukla and Collector Ashish Singh.
The district collector called the organizers and ordered to ban the competition.
Earlier in October and September months there were two separate incidents where headmasters and teachers were suspended for organizing essay writing on prophet Muhammad.
