14 December 2022: This is another sad example that shows how much Hindutva hates the followers of Islam.
Bahadur Shah Zafar was the twentieth and last Mughal Emperor of India. He was the leader of the Indian Mutiny of 1857 against British rule in India.
The Sepoy regiments reached the Mughal Court at Delhi, requesting Sahah Zafar to lead the rebellion. Many Indian Hindu kings and regiments accepted and declared him as the Emperor of India.
Today Hindutva groups smashed the portrait of Bahadur Shah Zafar hung on the wall of a biryani outlet in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur city, who termed the last Mughal emperor a “descendant of Aurangzeb”.
As per the local police, no complaint was filed against anyone regarding the incident that occurred on Wednesday night.
The Bhartiya Janata Party and other Hindutva bodies have often targeted Mughals and especially, Aurangzeb. Because Mughals were the followers of Islam and they inspired many Hindus to accept Islam.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has often talked about “1,200 years of servitude” – indicating Indians suffered under Mughal rule.
Last year, at Varanasi, Modi said that whenever an “Aurangzeb has arisen in India, a Hindu king, Chhatrapati Shivaji has also emerged.”
